Hello ladies - Here's a simple question I hope you will all answer for me. Do you buy bookmarks (the kind you put in a book)? For a long time I've wanted to design and sell bookmarks. But in reality, while I have quite a collection of unique bookmarks myself, I am the kind of person that folds down the corner of the page, or uses a gum wrapper as a bookmark. DO YOU USE A BOOKMARK WHEN YOU READ?

I buy bookmarks! I pick up a lot for free from the National Gallery of Art (Smithsonian) because I love the paintings that they put on them, but I often buy bookmarks as gifts - I'm a big booklover and love to give books as gifts. Once upon a time, when Borders was privately owned, I worked for them and we didn't carry a lot of the knick knacks and tschotzkis (sp?). But now, to keep up with Barnes & Nobles, they do. When I'm in the checkout counter with my present, 9 times out of 10, I'm buying a bookmark to go with it. Like the cherry on top.

The other reason I don't buy them for myself is b/c my kids tend to "borrow" them. But I'll use a business card before I fold down the corner of a page! ;-)

I love bookmarks. I like them for myself and as gifts. I don't always have one handy when I am reading a book (so I'll use a gum wrapper or airplane boarding pass, etc.) but I like the idea of them. And I like to add them as a personal little extra with a gift that will be a reminder later on, rather than a card that will be tossed away right after the event.

I'm a folder, same as you. However, if the book is borrowed and appears to be in great condition....then I use a bookmark!

I read A LOT. I am a folder. But I buy neat book marks all the time for gifts and for myself. I rarely use them when I am reading but I keep them as a little collection.

Most of the time I fold the book or use a pin or pencil to save my page unless its a book that I'm borrowing from someone.

Kimberly, yes, I always use a bookmark -- usually one of my own promotional bookmarks! I've never tried to sell them; they just seem like a great, inexpensive way to keep my name in front of potential clients/customers. Want one? I'll be happy to send one to anybody who asks! Claudia Suzanne

No I don't-I dog ear pages-bad habit i'm not likely to change BUT bookmarks attract me when I'm shopping-some are so eye catching.
