Hi Sharyn,
I just joined this group and wanted to reply to your question. I think that this is a decision that has to be made case by case. Naturally the goal is to be paid well for speaking as an expert in your field but in the interim, sometimes having the opportunity to share before a captive audience and subtly plug your product or service can be the bigger bonus. It’s a great opportunity to speak passionately and be heard by a captive audience and quite a great way to push your service without seeming pushy.

I am new to this network and have a question for public speakers...is it best to charge for your community speaking engagements such as women's clubs, realtor luncheons or do you find it best to speak for free and then "plug" one's book or products.
