Profile Information

What is your name?
Rima Austin
Are you currently heading a woman-owned business?
Yes
If you are in business, what is the name of your business?
Anything Pink Boutique
Where did you get your idea for your business or the business you'd like to start?
I currently work as a mastectomy fitter at my job for another company. I saw the need in our surrounding counties for these beautiful women to have more options when it comes to their breast-care needs. I want to provide all these needs under one roof.
Where is (will) your business located? (City and State)
Cookeville, Tennessee
How long have you been in business? (Or when do you plan to open?)
I plan to open a shop in January of 2009. Right now I will visit the ladies in their homes until my shop opens.
How many employees do you have, if any?
1-5
What is your annual revenue?
$0-$999
Describe your product or service, or the product you plan to introduce to the market.
I fit mastectomy patients (women) with their prosthesis and bras. I also do bathing suits, camisoles and some clothing. In the future I plan to offer wigs and skin care products.
How did you (or plan to) fund your business startup?
friends and family, SBA loan, grant
What was (is) the biggest hurdle in getting your business off the ground?
Getting start-up money is the hardest part. You have to make people see your dream and believe in it the way that you do.
What would you advise other women interested in starting a similar business?
Make sure you do your research and make sure there is a demand within your area. Also, don't be detered, if you believe in what you want to do then do it.
What has been your biggest mistake?
Letting my credit fall by the wayside. ALWAYS do whatever it takes to keep your credit in good standing. I would have not had as many money problems if I would have kept better credit.
What has been your smartest move?
Sticking it out in the job that I currently have (I work a day job and run my business on the side so far). It doesn't pay well but I saw the potential for advancement within the field and knew I needed to stay and stick it out.
Are you willing to answer questions from other women business owners about your business?
Yes
What is your email address?

New here

I have just recently started to get my business off the ground. If it wasn't for my business partner Jenni I don't think anything I have done so far would have happened. She is the best and so smart. She also gives me the drive to keep pushing. At this point the trouble I am running into the most is Medicare guidelines. It seems there are a lot of hoops to jump through to get to where you want to be but I am sure they have those regulations there for a reason and my business means enough to me t… Continue
