Hello....I am a new member and thought I would introduce myself. I look forward to our new friendship and being a part of such an amazing group ....Cheers
Jeannine - Welcome! Loved reading your profile. I was surprised about the suggestion to save 3 years worth of income, but you're right, that's probably what you need. And I think the decision to go niche is important in this constantly fragmenting market. Specializing is always a good thing, I think. Thanks for joining. Feel free to upload photos and such. And we'd all appreciate it if you'd invite other women business owners you know to join us here! Thanks. Have fun!

personal savings, bank financing
What was (is) the biggest hurdle in getting your business off the ground?
Managing the business aspect - wearing all the hats (having the skills was the easy part - running a business was much more difficult), and turning the corner from being able to support itself, and being able to offer me a regular income.
What would you advise other women interested in starting a similar business?
Do your research, make sure this is REALLY what you want to do, and try to have at least 3-years of your current income set aside to support yourself as you establish your business.
What has been your biggest mistake?
Spending marketing dollars on ineffective advertising - like the Yellow Pages; and not increasing pricing more regularly.
What has been your smartest move?
Establishing a niche - I went kicking and screaming, but once I did decide on a niche, my business really took off.
