Congratulations on joining MyWomanOwnedBusiness.com. You are absolutely correct in that so many tend to just want to make the money and have no idea of what breakeven means or what it takes to pay back the loan even if it is to yourself.
Personally I really like Orange County Ca as I have friends and extended family that live there.
Have a great NewYear and please visit me on my website @www.ohmiss.com. I try to help folks use their time to the highest and best advantage realizing if their normal fee is say $200/hr paying us to do their errands or organizational work is much more effective and they can be billing that many more hours.

Profile Information
What is your name?
Jennifer Valdivia
Are you currently heading a woman-owned business?
Yes
If you are in business, what is the name of your business?
Parsonex Capital Management, Inc.
Where did you get your idea for your business or the business you'd like to start?
I have always wanted to make an incredible impact on a person/family's life and for me, that had to deal with money; a topic unfortunately in my experience, not many people understand or are educated on. I had already been doing retirement planning, investments, etc. but when I saw how much more powerful the financial solutions could become when integrating the mortgage side of it, the numbers made complete sense. People want to improve their situation and sadly enough, it always comes down to lack of cashflow, or the mismanagement of it.
Where is (will) your business located? (City and State)
Local office is in Orange, CA
If you already have a website, what is the address for your business?
How long have you been in business? (Or when do you plan to open?)
Almost 3 years
How many employees do you have, if any?
0
What is your annual revenue?
$50K-$100K
Describe your product or service, or the product you plan to introduce to the market.
Through financial education and implementation of proven programs, we strategically use mortgages as a tool to build wealth and increase our clients’ net worth. Home values have escalated over the past several decades, yet equity in a home earns a 0% rate of return. Homeowners are losing millions of dollars by not investing this asset appropriately.
However, we do not just "sell loans as products". We are unique by combining mortgage planning with financial strategies. We educate families on how to dramatically transform their financial position, fund retirement, college education, and other goals and dreams.
How did you (or plan to) fund your business startup?
personal savings, equity line of credit, bank financing
What was (is) the biggest hurdle in getting your business off the ground?
Going from a "9-to-5 J-O-B" directly into an independent position/entrepreneur. It was the differences in the mentality and psychology in each scenario that was a hurdle. You learn that things are not just handed over to you and your day ends at 5 p.m. Learning that "true ownership" definitely has its own set of struggles, but incredibly high rewards.
What would you advise other women interested in starting a similar business?
You need to figure out what your strengths are and specifically why you are doing the business that you are in. I think it's important to define your position, understand the marketplace (the trends and effects on other industries) and plan on how you will separate yourself from the competition. What can you offer and bring to the table that will make your clients realize that you are definitely different and are offering not just a product or rate, but rather, it is true concern for their financial position and that you are giving them advice and an actual strategy.
What has been your biggest mistake?
Trying to do too much or take on too much all at once. I am a notorious overachiever and always feel the need to do it all and start new projects, and create new, big ideas. You will spread yourself out too thin and the focus is immediately lost. Again, define your strengths and work smarter.
What has been your smartest move?
Knowing the difference between making wise decisions carefully, but at the same time, having the balance of knowing when to push the button to go and just do it. I'm not saying that careful evaluation of an opportunity is not important, but by the same token, do not take forever to decide - especially because of fear. If you're going to truly be in business, fear is going to be something you need to learn how to handle. I see people "think" too long and unfortunately the window of opportunity always passes them by.
