Thanks Carolyn :) Your business idea sounds amazing! I could use your service ...I wish you were closer :)

My site is similar to Monster ....we connect employers from all industries with mom/applicants with all skill sets/education levels. We're not a placement agency. The site has been live for 2 months...and we are building our database of moms (we currently have over 200) ...we've had some postings (both for on-site and work from home ops) and we have many employers waiting for the site to mature and more moms to register. We have 45 registered employers...ranging from IT firms, retailers (Tiffany & Co, The container store, etc.), hospitals, and universities.

Let me know if you have any additional questions :)

Profile Information

What is your name?
Carolyn Harbert
Are you currently heading a woman-owned business?
Yes
If you are in business, what is the name of your business?
OHMISS Concierge
Where did you get your idea for your business or the business you'd like to start?
I worked in for the Airlines for 39 years and retired this year. I wanted to start something to supplement my airline income and to give me something to do. I have always been busy, owning retail stores, real estate etc while flying so retiring and doing nothing was not in the plan.
I have always been the person that people go to and ask for X Y or Z. A Personal Concierge business was a natural progression.
Where is (will) your business located? (City and State)
Tampa Florida
If you already have a website, what is the address for your business?
http://www.ohmiss.com
How long have you been in business? (Or when do you plan to open?)
I started in the fall of 2006.
How many employees do you have, if any?
1-5
What is your annual revenue?
$50K-$100K
Describe your product or service, or the product you plan to introduce to the market.
We offer a full service personal concierge service. We are bonded and insured. Our goal is to make our clients life easier and less stressful. We accomplish that by:
- personal assistants
-Go-for/errands
-Personal shoppers/ returns
-Reservations/tickets/events
-Pet Sitting
-Organization/ De-Clutter
-Gift wrapping/Card Writing
and much much more
How did you (or plan to) fund your business startup?
personal savings, second mortgage
What was (is) the biggest hurdle in getting your business off the ground?
Getting the word out that and educating the public on what a personal concierge does.
What would you advise other women interested in starting a similar business?
Have a marketing plan and market market market
What has been your biggest mistake?
Not having a professional design our website from the get go. These days a website is just like your office. You furnish the office to reflect your business and the website is no different. A standard template is just that standard and looks that way.
What has been your smartest move?
Hiring my Daughter in Law
Are you willing to answer questions from other women business owners about your business?
Yes
What is your email address?
carolyn@ohmiss.com
