I had previously worked for another telecommunication company. Since it was such a small company, I learned how to do every job in every department. I really enjoyed the industry but at the same time saw some things that were done that I didn't like, which is what inspired me to start my own telecommunication business.

Business Communications Solutions, founded in 2001 in Irvine, California, is in the business of providing telecommunication solutions to businesses from small to large nationwide. While maintaining uncompromising principles, BCS is focused on providing the highest level of service and quality to our clients and partners. Because of our commitment to excellence, we have partnered with the leaders in the industry in order to ensure the highest level of service to our clients.

In addition to our great partners we have aligned ourselves with some of best and talented individuals in the industry. With combined experience of over 60 years we have the knowledge to manage a project from inception to completion.

What was (is) the biggest hurdle in getting your business off the ground?

I think the biggest hurdle was getting our name out there. Nowadays, people are so bombarded with a clutter of marketing messages, that I didn't know where to start. It's always tough getting your name recognized when you're a new business, but I truly believe there is a uniqueness to the services BCS offers, which makes us stand out.

What would you advise other women interested in starting a similar business?

Although it's a little cliche, I can't emphasize enough how important it is to find something you love. With any type of business, you've got to be passionate but patient, extremely knowledeable about the industry, persistent, willing to make sacrifices, and you've got to know when to seek help.

What has been your biggest mistake?

I think my biggest mistake is hiring bad employees. It's difficult to pick out who will be a bad employee in the early stages, but I think when I first started my business, I may have been too lenient and understanding with some of my employees. So many people take advantage of kindness or they get too comfortable if they work in a more relaxed work environment, and that's when you see their true colors.

What has been your smartest move?

As much as I've learned from making bad hiring moves, I'm extremely thankful for the good employees that I have hired. It's vital to have employees that you can trust and who care about the company beyond what is in their job description. It's a great feeling when you can take a vacation and not have to worry about your business because you know it's in good hands.
