I worked for someone else for 9 years before a purchased a furniture store and decorating shop.

What would you advise other women interested in starting a similar business?

Plan to work very hard, pay all your bills before you pay yourself, plan to work for minimum wage for awhile, know that it's not much fun for awhile. Find a mentor that has good advice.

What has been your biggest mistake?

I started out with a partner. Partners don't work.

What has been your smartest move?

Buying my own building so that the business is paying me rent.
