I've just created another networking site for small businesses based in Orange County, CA. Check out www.small-business-oc.com. It's a great place to promote your business locally.

Hi Jean!....:-)

Welcome!...

My undergraduate work was in communications (radio & tv). As an entrepreneur I'm now using my creativity and using technology to market and brand my business.

You have such a special talent.

Good Luck!..:-)

hi, jean!

classroom management - still learning how to teach without babysitting. i've already been integrating brain gym into the classroom (applied kinesiology for whole-braining learning). we'll see how they do!

blessings,
gloria

Hi jean,
Just curious, how would you do a video ad for a business such as mine? One that is an online store?
It's an interesting concept, having a video ad...

Jean - Welcome! My son is a film major at Cal State Fullerton. He'll graduate this year. You should check out the page of Lauren Avery of Required Content. Go to the "Members" tab and click in the search box to type in her info. She also has uploaded a video. She might have some suggestions for you because she has her own production company. Good luck. Also, use the "invite" tab to invite other women business owners you know to check out your page on MyWomanOwnedBusiness.com and to join!

Are you currently heading a woman-owned business?
I am seeking information
If you are in business, what is the name of your business?
jean kim
Where did you get your idea for your business or the business you'd like to start?
recent film school graduate. now working as a freelance/independent cinematographer, mostly in independent, low budget projects at the moment. also making the rounds shooting various industrials (movies/videos created by and for the internal use of companies) and interviews.

also interested in some entrepreneurial endeavors. still in the brainstorming process of that.
Where is (will) your business located? (City and State)
los angeles/orange county, ca
If you already have a website, what is the address for your business?
http://www.kimjean.com
How long have you been in business? (Or when do you plan to open?)
around 4-5 years.
How many employees do you have, if any?
1-5
Describe your product or service, or the product you plan to introduce to the market.
basically, i do camera work in motion picture/film. i've worked on narrative projects, documentaries, commercials, music videos... you name it. since it is early in my career, most of my work has been in the independent/low budget realm.

if you're looking for a cameraperson to shoot or film some promotional material (ads, media kits, etc.), interviews, film a seminar or event, or if you happen to be producing a documentary or narrative film and need a cinematographer, i'm the woman to call. please visit my website for my body of work.
How did you (or plan to) fund your business startup?
Credit cards, personal savings, friends and family
What was (is) the biggest hurdle in getting your business off the ground?
since i'm freelancing, it's all about hustling and getting that next job... i think that's still my biggest hurdle.
What would you advise other women interested in starting a similar business?
other than getting the necessary training... network, network, network!!!
What has been your biggest mistake?
being humble (to a fault) and just not playing up my skills and qualities enough. my industry, like most (but i would argue, even worse), is completely male dominated. and most of the men seem to have no problem talking themselves up... unfortunately, many people who are hiring also seem to eat up that stuff.
What has been your smartest move?
networking and befriending other talented and (lucky for me) loyal people. i would say about 80%-85% of my work comes from these friends or via them.
Are you willing to answer questions from other women business owners about your business?
Yes
What is your email address?
