Profile Information
What is your name?
Sandra Sellani
Are you currently heading a woman-owned business?
Yes
If you are in business, what is the name of your business?
The Sellani Group Brand Strategists
Where did you get your idea for your business or the business you'd like to start?
I had been in sales, marketing and branding for more than 20 years. I wrote a book on branding called "What's Your BQ" (Brand Quotient) and started doing a lot of public speaking around the country. I decided I wanted to start my own business to have more flexibilitty in my life and to focus on branding.
Where is (will) your business located? (City and State)
Newport Beach, CA
If you already have a website, what is the address for your business?
How long have you been in business? (Or when do you plan to open?)
I've been in business for less than 6 months.
How many employees do you have, if any?
0
What is your annual revenue?
$100K-$250K
Describe your product or service, or the product you plan to introduce to the market.
I am a speaker, consultant and brand strategist. My goal is to help any business leader that wants a sustainable competitive advantage built into their brand. I have a proven and proprietary system that incorporates branding into the overall business strategy and has metrics to be used to ensure ongoing brand success.
How did you (or plan to) fund your business startup?
Credit cards, personal savings
What was (is) the biggest hurdle in getting your business off the ground?
Getting the infrastructure in place in a timely manner - website, materials, media, public relations, etc.
What would you advise other women interested in starting a similar business?
Just do it. If you wait until you have the perfect situation, a certain amount of money in the bank or an advanced degree, you're just putting it off. Get started and modify as you go along. You have more power than you think to shape your life, career and happiness.
What has been your biggest mistake?
I've only been business a few months, so haven't made a lot of mistakes, but the one big one is not choosing the best vendor for a particular project and having to redo the project with a different vendor. Take your time in choosing vendors - their work is ultimately a reflection of your brand.
What has been your smartest move?
Partnering with professional women's organizations as a source of support, resources and creative energy. It helps speaking with other women business owners and learning that your situation is not unique. We all suffer the same challenges, insecurities and worries. It's all normal! I also enjoy helping the younger entreprenuers in their 20's or 30's who sometimes have little support from friends and family who are in the traditional 9-5 work world.
Are you willing to answer questions from other women business owners about your business?
