Profile

What is your name?
Emma Tiebens
Are you currently heading a woman-owned business?
Yes
If you are in business, what is the name of your business?
Executive Distributor for MONAVIE
Where did you get your idea for your business or the business you'd like to start?
It has been my passion to encourage and cheer other women on, and when I found Monavie as a tool to help people - especially women - with better health physically, and or financially, it was a no brainer. I feel like I am a "lifestyle coach" because I am able to share proven and very simple strategies to successfully build a Monavie business which is brought to market via "relational marketing". Aren't we as women the queen of relational marketing? Everything I did in my life is in preparation for this product and opportunity that I was blessed enough be one of the pioneers in Southern California!
Where is (will) your business located? (City and State)
It's a global business, available in 6 countries to date. USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Japan and Singapore. The head office is in Jordan River, UT but my personal office is in Huntington Beach, CA.
If you already have a website, what is the address for your business?
http://www.theamazonjewel.com
How long have you been in business? (Or when do you plan to open?)
I have been in business since June 2006 and this is the most rewarding business/career I have ever done in my life and I've had my share of fun careers - I was a Production Assistant in the movie industry, I was a Preferred Banker, an International Flight Attendant, an undergraduate of Certified Financial Planning and prior to this, I have designed jewelry and owned a successful jewelry business, Bella Gemma, Inc. Monavie is the most fun and the most fulfilling!
How many employees do you have, if any?
0
What is your annual revenue?
$100K-$250K
Describe your product or service, or the product you plan to introduce to the market.
Monavie is a nutritional beverage with 19 high potency fruits, built around the Acai berry - "nature's # superfood for age-defying beauty", accdg. to anti-aging guru, Dr. Nicholas Perricone. It is packed with a wide variety of natural phytonutrients and antioxidants that our body needs daily. The USDA now recommends 7-9 daily servings of fruit in our diet, but only 11% of the US population gets to do that. Monavie is a simple and convenient way to meet the that USDA requirement and eliminates the need to peel, to juice or to drive to you nearest juice bar consume fruits. There are only 2 formulas and the Active Formula (for people 15 yrs and up) has Glucosamine and Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty oils for added health benefits. Question you have to ask yourself, do you get to eat tou get your 7-9 servings of fruit a day? How about your children? If the answer is no, it might be time to check Monavie out.
How did you (or plan to) fund your business startup?
personal savings
What was (is) the biggest hurdle in getting your business off the ground?
Getting over the stigma of what a "network marketing" opportunity is and changing the way people think about the concept of "relational marketing". Being able to disassociate the word network marketing from "pyramid or multi-level marketing" - concepts which are so ancient! We are bringing back the age of relationships where people do business with people they trust. The biggest hurdle was differentiating our Monavie opportunity out there, but once people see the difference, it becomes a personal campaign for most to "share the berries".
What would you advise other women interested in starting a similar business?
Never let anyone speak into your life and talk you out of something that could be life changing for you and your family! Some women who come to my Monavie Tasting Events see the bigger vision and the incredible opportunity that awaits them thru Monavie, but their dreams are not big enough to overcome "what their friends might say or might think of them". Your friends will not be the one paying your bills or will be responsible for your health - you are! Most of them turn around and start drinking and/or building their Monavie business because after one gets exposed to the truth about this "hope in a bottle", the thought will keep tugging at your heart until you do something with it!
What has been your biggest mistake?
My biggest mistake was trying to do something outside the box. We have thousands of people succeeding at this because of its simplicity and duplication. We have a system called R3Global that is so amazingly simple but having a background in establishing a traditional jewelry business from scratch, I wanted to make it more challenging. The simplicity was too good to be true. I thought I could apply the same principles of marketing and advertising but it was a huge mistake. It just delayed my progress tremendously. Nevertheless, I never look back and regret anything...they are all "feedback" and part of where I am today.
What has been your smartest move?
When I started paying attention to strategies that work and when I started going back to the basics that's when it all started coming together. This is a relationship based business and one could only succeed if you're able to help people succeed with you.
Whoever designed the business plan is brilliant because no one can take advantage of anybody. It's so in tune with what Zig Ziglar said: "you will get what you want if you help enough people get what they want".
Are you willing to answer questions from other women business owners about your business?
Yes

hey there,
I am not the one who makes those locals cards, that is a realtor... I was going to do something like that until I saw his. I do have it linked on my site and I hand them out for them. I might still do something like that. Have you ever checked out the HB Chamber? I'm pretty active in that and am always there. if you ever make a meeting, let me know so we can hook up. :)
