We live in Foothill Ranch, which you might recognize from recent news reports when wildfires burned all around us, within yards of our home.
We were fortunate to have lost no homes in our community to the firestorm, but the quality of air, even indoors, has been horrendous all week--as it has been throughout many areas of Southern California--and our health is suffering as a result. Yesterday we were treated to a few hours of clean outdoor air, and it felt like heaven to open the windows and breathe fresh air for the first time in days. But, when a faint smoke odor returned in the early evening, I was shocked to feel my heart start racing and my chest tighten up, and many of my neighbors are reporting similar experiences.
I believe this reaction to our polluted air is a "canary in the coal mine" warning that the air is loaded with toxins and substances that are probably affecting the health of many residents who have been forced to breath it for many days, whether they feel it or not. In an effort to provide a small service to folks who are locked up inside their homes to avoid the polluted outdoor air, my e-business has slashed our price on a top-of-the-line air purifier--the same unit FEMA provided to New York City residents after 9/11.
The trouble is I don't know how to get the word out about this discount and I'm not allowed by the manufacturer to advertise a reduced price. If someone you know is living in an area affected by the fires, please forward them this link: http://www.organicandhealthy.com/fire.html. We are offering a significant discount on a serious air purifier that is highly regarded by many health care professionals; not a cheap, ineffective model like those sold by local discount stores.
I hope people don't think I am trying to profit off the misery of those affected by the fire...I've spent countless hours ordering these filters for friends and neighbors at my cost; but as a small business with shallow pockets, I’m afraid I cannot afford to do this for everyone in So Cal. I thought about donating a portion of the sales to local relief agencies, but decided I would rather donate directly to affected families by providing a large discount.
We sleep in a closed bedroom with one of the smaller units, and when we go into the hallway in the morning it feels and smells like we're walking outdoors into the smoke-filled air; so I know it's doing a tremendous job of cleaning the air inside our room. I wish we had a few of these so we could have one in every room, or a large unit for each floor of our home, but at this time we only have the one filter that we move from room to room, depending on what we are doing at the time, and it has provided at least a pocket of clean air for my family to breath comfortably. (A couple days ago we ordered a large unit that will be arriving Tuesday--had we understood the impact of this nasty air we would have spent the extra $$ on overnight delivery.)
My thoughts, prayers and good wishes go out to all who are affected by the wildfires.
